#BEAUTYTALK: MY LATEST NAIL SWAG

My nail swag is as much a part of me as ...I don't know, it's just a part of me and when I'm past due such as what I was prior to a paying a recent visit to my Nail Stylist, I feel incomplete. So this is the latest in what my Nail Stylist, Mikal Brannum refers to as the "flower power" series seeing as how I've been stuck on designs that incorporate flowers as of late. The pic above is the "before." Watch the "after" for yourself. (If unable to view the player window, click HERE.)

How often do you get your nails done? Do you feel incomplete like me when past due?

NEVER TOO MUCH! AND IN THE LATEST #NAILSWAG NEWS ...

You never know how much "swagged" out nails can be pleasing to you until you have someone who keeps your nail swag on 100! There's nothing like having the assurance whether it be sitting in the chair of your hairstylist, barber or fashion stylist, that he/she will

IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING AND I GOT #NAILSWAG FEVER!

Today's the day, the 1st day of spring! Although you wouldn't know it by what Mother Nature is serving up today in my neck of the woods. But it's here! Most of us suffered a brutal winter so if you are like me, you can't wait for warmer temps, blue skies and open toe shoes. Oh and some fresh nail swag!

ONE SWIPE AND RIGHT OFF WITH @ASKELF!

I suffered a MAC (Book) attack, had a couple mishaps but work continues. Although I stood down for the last couple of weeks on posting anything, the Blogging continues. So ...If you are like me, you hardly ever do your nails yourself. Well, at one time that applied but my beloved Nail Stylist, Mikal Weathers decided to go off and have a bundle of blessings with the Hubby and then went on maternity leave. The nerve of her. So I'm left to my own devices. And I've found, the same as I am hesitant about letting just anyone tame my mane aka, my hair, the same applies to my nails. Now pedi's, I'm not as discriminating but my hands are a different story.
I've done my own nails now a couple of times for the first time in like ...FOREVA! The primary reasons why I don't is one, Mikal is just so dang good at what she does, I've posted about her work before here and the pic above is her work. But two, who has time for dat, doing their own nails?! I find if I have tools to make it quick and easy like a dry fast top coat and this right here, elf Nail Polish Remover Pads, I'm more likely to take on the challenge of doing my own nails. I was a bit skeptical about this product at first upon scooping them from my local Target, the infamous shopping destination that always reels me in resulting in my leaving with twice as many items as I intended to buy. I love the small packaging and the citrus scent caught my attention as well. And I figured 2 bucks for 24 pads, not a bad deal. So after walking around last week with busted and disgusted nails for too many days (I hope you didn't see me), I had an opportunity to give these pads a go.

PRESS PLAY ...AND SEE THE "TAKE-OFF" FOR YOURSELF

I particularly loved that I didn't have to use all 24 pads. But for the cost, they were pretty effective and considering that this nail job was two coats, I was impressed. The citrus scent it nice and less that standard toxic polish remover smell. And like how some polishes leave a very dry finish, these pads actually leave your nails very hydrated if that makes sense so you don't get that dry, ashy nail bed finish. But I found these to be great to toss in your bag so if in a pinch you need to take polish off because of a chip. And the pads are great as a corrector. You know how sometimes you just need to swipe alongside your cuticle to get that lil' bit of polish that ran over, these are great for that too.
2 bucks, toss em' and go. One swipe and right off!

#BEAUTYTALK: STELLA GOT HER NAIL SWAG BAAAAAA-CK!!!

My Nail Stylist, Mikal Weathers and I have been like two ships passing in the night for far too long so I've been lagging in my nail swag. Notice the lack of bragging as of late? Why? Because I ain't had no swag to brag about. But FINALLY, the stars aligned and I was able to get right. Mind you, I had to go elsewhere in the meantime and it was a tragedy of epic proportions. You know the same as women are possessive about their hair stylists, the same can be said for how I am about my nails. I don't want anyone else touching em', not even myself because no one is on par with my stylist.
But I'm back and I'm bragging and doing it once again for the vine. My latest edition was taken from one of my Pinterest pins of which Mikal of course added her own personal touch. The style features Gelish "I'm Brighter Than You" and Le Chat "Happy Hour."
Let's hope I don't ever have go this long again. How often do you get your nails done and are you as particular and possesive as I am about who does your nails?

#BEAUTYTALK: MY LATEST NAIL SWAG ON VIDEO

Spring is upon us which not only means new clothes and new shoes but new nails too. Whenever my Nail Stylist, Mikal Weathers (on IG @belovednails365), and I get together, something great always comes out of it. My nails are completely natural although the length is a bit longer than I typically go for but I like to step out there sometimes. Click here to see the actual Pinterest pin which inspired this design. The featured color is "Angel From Above" by LeChat but I call the design "Black Bottoms." Press play for the vine video I shot and see for yourself.

BeautyTalk: CND Vinylux REALLY Delivers Week-Long Wear Without Chipping!

Actually more than week-long wear. I'm making an effort to tighten up aka save money if you will as the Holiday season is fastly approaching (I feel the anxiety building). So when it comes to my #NailSwag, I opted per my last visit to my Nail Stylist, Mikal Brannum, to go with a regular manicure instead of a gel manicure. Why you ask? Because it's cheaper! I was very skeptical however because regular manicures typically last no longer than 24-48 hours before the chipping and cracking sets in. And most times I'm left asking why did I even bother.

Seaside Party #146, Rubble #144, Purple Purple #138
Upon my last #NailSwag visit, my Stylist introduced me to CND's Vinylux. After telling her I wanted to keep it tame, she recommended three colors of which I had never tried. My nails, the same as my outfit choices are a total reflection of my mood. The colors I liked but I was admittedly skeptical about the lasting power. My Stylist gave me the spiel about Vinylux affording week-long wear and after posting a pic to my Instagram @bagladies, one of my followers actually endorsed the week-long wear so I said what the heck.

This top is the before pic. I almost didn't have my Stylist do any sort of design thinking what's the point because this will be chipping in no time but before I could stop her, she was already having her way and designing an ikat style print.
Right Hand
Left Hand

And now the "after." What do you think? And mind you, this is actually not 7 days but 9 days later! Minus slight chipping, I've never had a manicure last this long yet still look this good. Additionally, the finish is smooth and flawless. The pic doesn't do the colors justice. There's none of that brittleness that I sometimes get with other brands and exposure to natural light actually ensures a better seal. The self-adhering color coat actually reduces the drying time so once done, I didn't have to wait around for eons for the polish to dry. I was able to reach into my bag and grab my keys with absolutely no smudging. The Vinylux system enhances durability and builds a resistance to chips.

CND Vinylux offers 62 fashion colors straight from the runway to you ...And me too! Which color shall I choose next? I guess you will just have to wait and see!

How often to you get your #nailswag on? Do you rock a regular manicure? How long does your manicure last before chipping?
