#MAMANISTAFRIDAYS: IT'S AN "ALL WHITE" AFFAIR ...

So I finally snapped had someone else snap a full head to toe look that I could link up with my girl and former on-air cohost, Trina Small of BabyShopaholic.com for her weekly #MamanistaFridays feature. Every week, Trina and Aracely of MamaFashionFiles.com select a theme and do a featured look. This week's freestyle theme was right on time.
I'm not typically one to rock a full white fit but such was the theme of a recently attended event so if I wanted in, I had to look and play the part. I had totally forgotten about this Lanston dress from Shopbop.com, a fave online outlet of mine. This was my first time wearing and although I thought I was playing a cruel joke on myself by even trying to rock it, I was pleasantly surprised. Note: I purchased like two years ago so I thought my chances were slim of still being able to fit it. But alas, it fit! I revealed how and why earlier in the week. Click here. This particular dress is no longer available but I would suggest searching Lanston at Shopbop.com for similar styles. The structure of Lanston styles are pretty consistent.

Earrings/Necklace, Shopbop.com

The neckline of this dress was terribly flattering and both the spandex and cotton made for a comfy fit with great structure meaning it both accentuated and hid at the same time. I particularly loved the length and I wasn't pulling and tugging all night to keep it in place. I was a tad concerned about perhaps it being too sheer but I just layered under a cropped white blazer with a peplum hem (sorry, no pic), and I was all good.
Clutch, Target / Accessories, Shopbop
Eliesse Wedge, JustFab.com
I played up my accessories cause I needed the color which included a multi color clutch, gold neckwear and earrings and JustFab open toe Eliesse wedges which are great. I'm doing a video of how great they are so please be on the lookout. Layering I think is the key to wearing white and having fun with it. I just sifted through my closet, pulled a few pieces and pulled it together.

What's your trick to pulling off an all white affair?

#TBT: "THE LOOKS OF LOVE" FLASHBACK

If you missed any of the looks featured in last week's week-long "The Looks of Love" series, here is a video snapshot pulled from my Youtube channel. FINE PRINT: Although I went with a Valentine's Day theme, these looks are not specific to just Valentine's Day and can be worn year round for sure.
The most popular and the look that generated the most buzz, was Look 2, the Baroque print jacket and skirt set from the Nicki Minaj collection for Kmart. Click here for the full scoop. This collection surprised me the most. I may do a YouTube video that goes into more detail. One of my resolutions for 2014 is to build more video content. I can't wait to showcase what's hot for spring.

What was your fave look of the series?

5 HOT LOOK-A-LIKES TO MY LULUS.COM BOOTS THAT EVERYBODY WANTS!

I love a fab shoe!! And I mean shoe in the broad sense be it a pump, a sandal, a flat or a boot. It's safe to say my love of shoes can easily be classified as a fetish (drops mic and takes a seat.) I literally have a #ItsAFetish Pinterest board dedicated solely to my love of shoes. Can you relate? Click here to follow styles that I swoon over.

So winter is upon us. I look forward to winter for a few reasons. Not many though cause I like cold less as I get older (giving Mother Nature the side-eye.) But being able to rock certain boots that I only pull out when the temps go down is one. To the left is one style in particular that ALWAYS attracts attention. I've been stopped on the street, in the airport, while eating. And I've even had friends try to steal these boots off my feet while I am wearing them mind you! I adore these boots. I am barely 5 feet but the over-the-knee length actually elongates my legs and makes me look slimmer. I love the buckle embellishments that give them even more flair. They are warm. And there is just a 1" stacked heel so the fit is extremely comfortable. I've literally been out with my kids all day ripping and running and I can stay in these boots all day. The leather is soft and stretchy and with the side zipper, they are very easy to put on and take off. And you can dress them up and pair with a skirt/dress or dress down and pair with leggings/denim.

Pictured with my son at his recent Soccer tourney again in my tried and true boots.
Lulus.com is one of my favorite online shopping destinations primarily consisting of emerging designers. But you can find everything from dresses and shoes to accessories and beauty products. And at amazing prices! Not only am I a fan but Lulu*s has been very supportive of my Bag Ladies. Lulu*s sponsored my participation in last year's #Blogalicious5 as official Social Media Partner.

I'm always flattered by the compliments but I'm sorry to say that this particular style is no longer available (I've had them for like 2 years), but because I am so often asked about them …I literally had a 10 minute conversation with friends last evening over dinner about options for wearing and where they can find. So I said to myself hmmm, let me check Lulu*s and see what they got. I selected five look-a-likes and while they aren't exactly the same obviously, they are just as HOT with great price points (I included the cost and direct link), and like me, may give you a reason to love the colder months that much more.

Clayton 14. I love the fact that these are only $48 bucks! And like mine, they are over-the-knee, soft and supple leather with silver buckles and a side zip. Click here!
Bamboo Montage 80X. Like mine, this style has a 1" heel and is over-the-knee. And although you can't see, there is a gold zipper on the side and the exposed buckle is gold too. And only $52 dollars. Click here!
Outlaw 81. Although a tad shorter in length, they are leather. And there are exposed buckles at the top and bottom. What you don't see is an exposed side-zipper trimmed in a hot electric blue. $46 bucks. Click here!
Herley11. The studs had me at "hello." Leather, over the knee with a 1" heel and a zipper in the back. The black leather is vegan. $46. Click here!
Wanted Bayon. So I deter a bit. These are brown but I just love the exposed gold buckles. And these are over-the-knee. The most costly as they are both leather and suede but still a steal at $89. Click here!
What do you think? Which style is your fave? Get em' while you can! Note, quantities for some are very limited. And might I add although not really my style, these boots although over the knee can be worn year round. I have ankle and mid-calf boots that I often wear in the warmer months even.

Happy 2014!!

THE HOTTEST KIDS FASHION TRENDS THAT WE DIDN'T KNOW

FAVE Boys tops from www.appaman.com, www.louisbboutique.com and www.zara.com
Tribal prints, ethnic prints, neon, lace, eggshell (the color), graphic tees and patterns ...These are some of the hottest trends of the season in kids fashion. Last nite was KIDS + FASHION + Children's Wardrobe Stylist, Whitney Alana which = good dish. Any time fashion is on deck, we have a good time.

Last nite's show was the perfect platform to re-introduce our Mommy Midday segment. I realize there are alot of Mommies amongst our audience so Mommy Midday lends visibility to you (and me), and the reality of "Mommyhood." Spring is here and alot of us are hard at work creating looks so our little ones can knock em dead on Easter Sunday with fab ensembles so dish about fashion was perfect timing ...Not that dish about fashion isn't always appropriate. When isn't it? Anyway, last nite's guest, Whitney Alana gave us the scoop on trends to love in kids fashion and how to get your child to wear the trends, embrace the trends and be creative with the trends. A few of my fave tips:
FAVE trends for girls from www.zara.com, www.target.com, www.jcrew.com

  • When defining your child's style, take him/her shopping and pay attention to what he/she picks up  and catches his/her eye.
  • To ensure your child wears items that are appropriate, you pick out the pieces and let your child mix, match and create their own look.
  • Have fun with "Oxymoron Matching." Pair a dress with sneakers, lace shorts with a graphic tee or sweat pants with slip-on's.
How do you dress your child?  What are some of your favorite trends right now?

Oh and btw and completely random, my fave quote from last nite, "Kim Kardashian doesn't make pregnancy look desirable." Catchup OnDemand to find out the context in which this was quoted and more regarding kids + fashion. Visit www.bagladiesradio.com/listen, scroll down and press play.

What You Missed ...Bag Ladies Radio Recap

You are definitely a beauty and Bag Ladies surely thinks you are a cutie too!! And that was the message of this week's, “It’s All About Beauty Cutie!”, Bag Ladies recurring monthly episode where they talk all things beauty. Bag Ladies Reality Radio, the nationally broadcast weekly reality radio show that targets women and is all about the reality of ladies, their lives and how they do it so needless to say, beauty is a hot topic of convo and Beauty Talk is one of Bag Ladies most popular segments. As the Holiday season is upon us, much attention was lent to great Holiday deals on some of the most notable and fave beauty brands as well as some of the trends and colors being sported this season and some of the hottest collections and beauty sets that make for great gifts and stocking stuffers. As an added treat as if banter about all things beauty isn’t enough, Bag Ladies featured beauty fanatic and straight talking beauty expert, Daneen Baird from the craze that is Spoiledpretty.com which is an award winning beauty lifestyle site that is the go-to guide to what’s new, what's hot, and what's next in the world of beauty.

After much chatter amongst Lady Erin, Madame Myra and Miz Adams to include the Life of Bag Ladies and where they are on the scene, newsworthy buzz mostly dominated by the Tiger Woods saga, What’s Poppin w/ the Paparazzi featuring all types of celeb juice from Rihanna’s antics to what is Nicki Minaj’s talent exactly and why is she jocking Lil Kim's style? And not to be forgotten, Madame Myra’s Top 10 myth busters, it was time to get down to the nitty gritty …all while doing this sober as this week’s episode was minus, “What’s Sippin.” But rest assured that as the Bag Ladies themselves proclaimed, they will more than make up next week for this week’s sobriety.

T
he Bag Ladies woman is one that strives to put her best face forward all the time so after having discussed the concept that is spoiledpretty.com, the Bag Ladies and featured guest Daneen Baird discussed all things beauty from the colors being worn on nails to lips, eyeliners and more and Miz Adams told a story of conquering her fear of the red lip which most women can relate but as Lady Erin said, “it comes down to finding the right red to compliment your complexion and you will never wanna take it off. There’s nothing sexier.” Daneen compared it to finding the perfect black dress. Holiday beauty collections and stocking stuffers were the hottest topic of convo as Daneen rattled off her top 6 gift picks which included everything from Godiva Chocolate Candles (pictured above left) in scents like Milk Chocolate Truffle and Raspberry Ganache to Bath & Body Works Lounge Socks (pictured below left) that contain shea butter moisturizer. And Bag Ladies had a few stocking stuffer faves too like the Victoria's Secret Love Rocks Lip Gloss Ring (pictured above right ...Lady Erin was applying the sheer cherry gloss during the show), the Sephora Lip Service Deluxe Sampler and the best of bliss 2009 (both pictured below right) in lemon+sage. Now aren’t you ready to rush out and get your Holiday shopping on? Tune into Bag Ladies Reality Radio OnDemand and catch up on the great convo you might’ve missed per the live episode and get the full scoop on celeb juice, product reviews and more and be sure to tune in next week and each and every Tuesday to Bag Ladies Reality Radio at 7p EST for more real women, real talk. It’s all about you ladies!!!

FASHION ...We Can't Get Enough!!

As folks recover from last night's glorious and fabulous (especially for those in NYC), nationwide Fashion's Night Out (Patricia Field pictured at left), a real kick in the butt to stimulate the retail industry, folks are slamming blogs and sites across cyberspace that have their finger on the pulse of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week which continues on into next week. Definitely stay close to The Fashion Bomb because as Claire (pictured at right) mentioned on this week's episode of Bag Ladies (check out what you may have missed On Demand), she is gonna be providing regular and frequent updates on that which is walking down the runway. And why not have a one up on everybody else as to what trends are gonna be hot for next year. If you're like me, you're ready to start stockpiling now. Here are some hot looks from Gwen Steffani's LAMB. and BCBG Max Azria. And this is just a taste of what has debuted on the runways thus far for Spring 2010!

A few new styling tips from this week's Madame Myra's Top 10 ...

The NEW rules of fashion!!

New Rule 1
Soften a structured look with lingerie-inspired elements.

New Rule 2
Build an outfit around a unique article of clothing.

New Rule 3
Flaunt one stretch of skin at a time.

New Rule 4
Mix ladylike pieces with something super sexy.

New Rule 5
Make gray your go-to neutral.

New Rule 6
Refuse to accessorize a dress that speaks for itself.

New Rule 7
Add edge to a classic look.

New Rule 8
Don't match your shoes and belt...but keep them in the same color family.
And for those of you who are where we (Bag Ladies) are, we are fastly approaching DC Fashion Week so definitely stay tuned to next week's show on Tuesday at 7p EST for updates and details on upcoming events and shows.
