SPECIAL EDITION: THE LADIES OF ONLINE BOUTIQUE @SHOPHANNAHMONET
If you stay even the slightest bit engaged via social media, you know online boutiques crop up literally every second. Everybody is now selling sumpin. You no doubt have seen the Instagram streams of pieces upon pieces on sale for next to nothing. I recently had the pleasure of meeting the ladies behind HannahMonet.com. Upon visiting their booth at the twice-monthly Fashionista Flea Market based in Bowie, MD, I immediately noticed that they were very nice and that they also had a great selection of apparel styles from skirts and dresses to tops and jumpers. And if you know two things about me, you know that I love fashion and I love beauty. Oh and one more, I love to "dish" aka, talk fashion and beauty. So here's the scoop on HannahMonet.com after dishing with founders and friends, Hannah Sullivan and Kiara Mon'et.
HOW LONG HAS HANNAH MONET BEEN IN BUSINESS: 1 year
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE CONCEPT OF HANNAHMONET.COM: We've always had a love for fashion and knew we wanted to do something in the industry. Starting our online boutique, hannahmonet.com is only the beginning.
THERE ARE SO MANY ONLINE BOUTIQUES, HOW DO YOU DISTINGUISH YOURSELVES FROM ALL THE REST: We hand-select our items and we are very particular about offering our clients quality product. We work with independent designers who understand our mission to delivery quality so even if it means holding up an order to ensure that the product is right, we will do that.
WHO ARE YOUR CLIENTS: We don't cater to any one type or size woman. We cater to women of all shapes and sizes. From small and petite to curvy and chic.
DO YOU WANT TO ONE DAY OPEN A STAND-ALONE STORE: We don't want to get to far ahead of ourselves. We want to keep the brand personal. We want our clients to be able to reach us. We don't want to become too big too fast but we definitely would like to continue to grow and expand and one day have our own not just one store but multiple stores.

These ladies are making moves. And I can speak first-hand to the quality of product. The ladies of HannahMonet.com extended me an invitation to wear one of their pieces for last weekend's Naturalista Hair Show of which I spoke on a Blogger panel. Interestingly enough, I selected two pieces, a top and bottom but the ladies also brought a wrap maxi dress which upon seeing it, I LOVED the print but I thought it might perhaps be a bit too long and swallow my 5' 1/2" frame. But I gave it a go and I was hooked! It was terribly flattering and totally effortless which ended up being a win because I had a teeny tiny window the day of the event to change and touch up my makeup. I paired the dress with a few accessories and JustFab wedges and no one was any the wiser of how little time I had to prep. It's a must-have piece that is sexy yet comfortable and just wears well and feels great on. I'm anxiously awaiting more styles like this in different prints and more.
You catch up with the ladies of HannahMonet.com and see what they have to offer for yourself, at this weekend's Boulevard of Chic Fashion Truck Rally which takes place Saturday, August 9th from 12-7p at Rash Field at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD. If a Shopaholic like me, you don't want to miss this event. I might see you there! Be sure to follow Hannah Monet on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest @shophannahmonet and shop online at HannahMonet.com.

#BAGLADIESLIVE WEEKEND: THE 2ND TIME AROUND WAS EVEN BETTER; NATURALISTA HAIR SHOW 2014 #IAmN
I had the pleasure of dishing yet again about that which I've learned thus far along my journey as both a Blogger and Producer/Host of BagLadiesRadio.com. The social media landscape is ever-expanding and talking about it is something I love to do. Even moreso when you have an event that provides a great platform and other fabulous Bloggers and Vloggers to accompany you. Thus this year's 2nd edition Naturalista Hair Show. Upon being asked to participate, I was all in. Last year was great. Not only did I get to dish but I also had the pleasure of putting faces with the names of Bloggers that I admire and had connected with via social media but had never actually met. And I swooned over natural hair styles. And got my shop on too. This year was no different. The "Beauty and The Blog" panel featured myself and Yolanda Renee of etcblogmag.com, Jonna Scott-Blakes of naturally-glam.com and Anissa LiMara of ilovealimara.net. And was moderated by Christine Louis of root2curl.com. I had the pleasure of speaking alongside Yolanda and Jonna before (click here), and we picked up right where we left off.

The questions were great. And there is nothing more humbling than sitting a'front an audience who is engaged and hanging on every word that you have to say. I was flattered to have been asked some awesome questions and even more flattered after the event by the many compliments regarding both what I said and what I wore. Hold fast for details. And that's not even all. The hair!!!!! The lovely ladies in attendance rocking eau natural were just gorgeous. This year's Naturalista Hair Show included not only panels but hands on workshops so that you could actually try your hand at different natural styles. There was also a marketplace of fab vendors. I paid a visit to a dear friend, Terry Williams, owner of Shea Butter Like Whoa. And there was also a pop-up salon of which my own stylist participated. And guess what ? For the second year in a row, my stylist Salih Watts, Owner and Master Loctician of LocLov.com won the award for "Best Loctician in the DMV!!!"

I have to extend a special thanks to Hannah Monet. The lovely ladies behind this online boutique extended me an invitation to showcase one of their fabulous pieces, a wrap maxi named "Lady Kim" and the response was awesome. Per an IG post, it is effortless, comfortable, chic and sexy and was the perfect choice because I had an earlier commitment and literally did a 10 second quick change and makeup touch up before making my way to the event and didn't miss a beat in this gorgeous frock. I can't wait to share more about Hannah Monet. Be sure to follow them on IG @shophannahmonet and visit the online boutique at hannahmonet.com.

Founder of The Naturalista Hair Show and Owner of N Natural Hair Studio, Angela Walker outdid herself by not only adding more elements including a fashion show but this year's event was extended to two days! As good as 2014 was, I can only imagine what has yet to come for next year's 2015 edition. How will she add to the "epicness?" I can't wait. Can you?

I'll BE SPEAKING FOR THE 2ND TIME AT THIS WEEKEND'S 2014 NATURALISTA HAIR SHOW. IT'S GONNA BE EPIC!
Last year was just one day. This year's second annual Naturalista Hair Show, is so epic it's been extended to two days! And guess what? I'm back again. The Naturalista Hair Show goes down this weekend, August 2nd thru August 3rd in Silver Spring, MD at the DoubleTree Hotel. This year's show will feature workshops, panel discussions, hands on classes, product and apparel market aka, a shopaholics dream, styling and product demos as well as fitness and nutrition tips. And if that isn't enough, this year's event also features a pop-up salon of which my own stylist, Salih Watts, Owner and Master Loctician of LocLov.com will be participating. Salih also took home the award for "Best Loctician in the DMV" last year. How much you wanna bet he can do it again? My money is on him.

I guess Founder of The Naturalista Hair Show and Owner of N Natural Hair Studio, Angela Walker must have known I had such a good time last year, she asked me back again this year. To that I say, my pleasure. Click here for a snippet regarding last year's edition. This year, I will be dishing yet again and lending a voice to the "Beauty & The Blog" panel alongside Vlogger and this year's Keynote Speaker, Yolanda Renee of Et Cetera, Jonna Scott-Blakes of naturally-glam.com and Annisa LiMara of A'LiMara. The panel will be moderated by Christine Jacques-Louis of Root2Curl.com. You know I love to dish especially all things beauty and particularly alongside fab ladies two of whom I had the pleasure of dishing with during the 1st annual Blogger Week DC. Read the recap here.

MY 1st THOUGHTS ON @FANDANGO SCREENING OF DISNEY'S PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE #FANDANGOFAMILY
So if with children as am I, you know attending movies is no cheap affair. So I was glad to be extended the opportunity to attend last nite's free Fandango screening of Disney's Planes: Fire & Rescue. Unlike Cars, this one is about planes and features a dynamic crew tasked with protecting a historic park. We had our free concessions which included pop corn and drinks. And we posted up for a movie that while not long in length (it ended sooner than I expected), it was entertaining and funny.

| Dusty Crophopper was my fave character |
There is no other way to see this movie than in 3D. The effects coupled with stunts, were adorable. My three were totally engaged in the movie for the entire time. And while a cartoon may not lend the most appeal to us as Parents (adults), when you throw in the voices of Actors Ed Harris (one of my faves), Dane Cook and Jerry Stiller, it's bound to be a good time. I caught myself cracking up at some of the jokes. But the overall message was particularly striking in that life doesn't always go as you planned but what you didn't expect can be even better. It had an air of just reaching for the stars. And my kids got it too.

I Got A Man!!!
Calm down. I'm still single (ugh) but I did I did score a man to lend a voice to last nite's "Tales Of Singledom". Last nite featured an instant replay of a previously aired live segment with guest, Dating Coach & Essence Relationships Editor, Charreah K. Jackson. It is one of my fave episodes and at this stage in my dating game, I needed a bit of reassurance so I thought it would be helpful to re-air Charreah's expert advice. Sidebar: I found myself taking notes again as if I hadn't ever heard the episode.
I switched things up however and opened the live portion of last nite's show a bit differently. I twisted the arm literally of friend and Bag Ladies Radio supporter, Mr. Gee James. Gee is a Photographer and fellow blogger bud. Gee tweeted a question a day prior asking what a woman should "contribute" on a date and the responses were hilarious and I knew immediately that I had to take the question to air. Thus last nite's dish. I even had Ty Knighten join me to weigh in also. The tone was ...Well, press play and listen for yourself OnDemand.
And not to be forgotten, I had a chance to dish on one my fave topics, fashion with fellow bloggers Yvonne of PinkDollHouse.org and Ashley of AshleyGaGa.com about tonite's DC showing of "Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's."

COUNTDOWN 2 TOMORROW'S DEBUT OF LANVIN FOR H&M!!!!

It's a DMV "STAKE-OUT"!!!! And the countdown is on ..."Rise and Grind"!!! I literally did quite a few hours early this morn
ing, all in an effort to prepare my body for tomorrow's H&M stake-out for the debut of Lanvin for H&M! Some of you might ask, what might possess one to rise in the wee hours of the morning, for fashion? My question to you, is not do you know the story behind Lanvin and designer, Alber Elbaz, but have you seen the collection?!!!!If you tuned into this week's Bag Ladies Reality Radio, LIVE on-air "Passion For Fashion" featuring Celebrity Styl
ist & Fashion Designer, June Ambrose, then you heard our latest fashion and beauty prescription delivered by "The Style And Beauty Doctor". We discussed tomorrow's debut and our plans to ensure that we lock our spot on the curb ...in the wee hours, and are admitted into the store upon opening at 8a, and popping Lanvin for H&M tags, upon exiting!!! And heads up, Bag Ladies will lock a spot on the curb at 3:30am in front of the H&M F Street location in Washington, DC, unless we hit the snooze button one too many times. If so, it will be 4am.Let's talk about how to maximize your Lanvin for H&M shopping experience!!! So for those of you planning a stake-out as are we here in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia), here are some shopping tips pulled from a Black Friday article on DealSeekingMoms.com:

1. Make a list - Review the collection and take your pick. As much as I'd love to walk out with the entire collection in hand, it ain't happening. If it was like that, do you think I'd be up waiting on a cold, dusty sidewalk for the debut? Know what you want so that you know what to grab in store and can make a mad dash to the register. This also prevents overspending.
2. Prioritize - What are your absolute "must-have's" from the collection? I've selected mine but I ain't telling ya'll!! But know that there is no guarantee that you will get everything you want. Note: we aren't the only ones awaiting this debut and as we discussed on this week's show, folks take it personally when it comes to fashion. You will be surrounded by those shopping the collection the same as you, who are willing to fight to the death for a particular style!
3. Be realistic - Review H&M's, "How To Shop Lanvin For H&M" ...enough said. Note phrases and words like "HIGH DEMAND", "QUEUING SYSTEM", "20 AT A TIME".
4. Take a shopping buddy - This could be beneficial perhaps if you drag someone along who ha
s absolutely no interest in fashion. Otherwise, that friend could easily turn to "foe" when challenged with grabbing that one remaining "must-have". Envision eyes rolling, terror music playing in the background and an extreme stare-down as the both of you wonder who will make the first move. Flying solo might be the better option.5. Leave the kids at home - I think you can figure this out for yourselves. Spare yo
urself and surrounding shoppers, the agony.6. Research prices ahead of time - Click here to find prices for each style in the collection. Know your budget and what you can afford because the time spent calculating while in store can be advantageous to another "fashionista". While you're adding and subtracting in your head and counting numbers on your hand, she's grabbing. Know how much money you got and how much you can spend. It's simple!
7. Wear layers - You recall my previous mention regarding cold, dusty sidewalks? Well, that's likely where you'll be standing, awaiting the opening of your selected H&M store (find your store). We are heeding the advice of June Ambrose. Layer it up!!!! Tis the season so although not for all but for alot of us, there will be a chill in the air. My theory is I'd like to be comfy while I wait. As it warms up for some, you can peel the layers off. But for me, I will wear a bodysuit or something underneath those layers so although H&M is normally true to size for me, if I have to try on something with the "quickness", I can drop those layers to the floor which I absolutely will do for this collection. "Watch out there now!" Side Note: if looking for more on the actual fit and size range of the collection as well as the concept, check out footage of our girl Wendy from Nitrolicious (a fave) as she played around in the H&M showroom.
8. Bring snacks and water - "Pack plenty of snacks and water so that you have something to eat and drink while you wait in line or drive between stops. Waiting too long to eat because you're afraid you'll miss a great deal will affect your mood and energy level, so don't do it!" I absolutely agree ...let's face it, we are all likely gonna be a lil moody and irritated. We all would rather be in bed on a Saturday morning instead of keeping each other company in the wee hours. Make the best of it by having your supplies at the ready!
9. Set your expectations - Not to dampen your excitement but don't expect to get everything you want. This collection is historical! Some items might sell out, your size may not be available. Who knows? I'm already damn near on the verge of having an anxiety attack because that's how anxious I am and how bad I want something, anything from this collection!!
10. Be friendly - A smile and a hello goes a long way. Make friends with the staff and shoppers around you. Don't be afraid to reveal your size. Perhaps that very shopper or salesperson that you took the time to say hello to, might be more inclined to say, "hey" should they come across a style in your size. Let's support one another in our efforts. You'd be surprised, it works!
Bonus Tip - Put comfort first! The stake-out is not at all about looking your best, it's about maintaining comfort. You can focus efforts on looking your best when first stepping out in that Lanvin for H&M style. But for the sake of the stake-out, it's all about maintaining comfort. Oh, and being hands-free, so that you can shop quickly and effectively. It's a strategy, PLAN YOURS!!
Tweet with us @bagladies for more details regarding our DMV "stake-out". And details will be posted to our fb page too. We'll see you on the curb. Just look for the group of ladies shivering with a deadly look of WTH am I doing out here!!! We look forward to meeting you!
