"INSTANT REPLAY" ON TOMORROW'S #BAGLADIESLIVE

I love each and every show however why certain shows are a fave, varies. It could be the personality of the featured guest, the topic of conversation, the "dish" itself, a hilarious quote ...I could go on. And then there was "INSTANT REPLAY." "INSTANT REPLAY" is being introduced as per Bag Ladies Radio OnDemand feature which allows you to listen to all previously aired Bag Ladies shows, 24/7. Have you noticed tweets/posts regarding the fact that even if you miss Bag Ladies live, you don't have to throw up your hands and sulk. All you need do is catch up OnDemand. After a show airs live, it becomes immediately available OnDemand at bagladiesradio.com/listen or as I recently announced, on iTunes! You can literally listen whenever you want. And if you are on iTunes, you can subscribe to the show and be automatically notified when shows are made available and listen from wherever, whenever.

"INSTANT REPLAY" on #BagLadiesLIVE is straight to the point. It's a condensed version of a previously aired segment, the main "dish", that is a fave replayed just for you and your listening pleasure. Upon opening the show and sharing with you the "chosen" show and why it's a fave, "INSTANT REPLAY."

Tune in tomorrow, 7:30p EST @ bagladiesradio.com/listen for this month's "INSTANT REPLAY." Moving forward, "INSTANT REPLAY" will be added to the line up every month.

BAG LADIES Look of the Week: Rihanna

This week's BAG LADIES Look of the Week is our girl Rihanna who has been yielding alot of attention as of late for her new haircut. Well, Bag Ladies absolutely had to give her the attention she deserves when we came across this recent look of which she was outfitted in an Alexander McQueen (can't ever go wrong) jumpsuit, at the London premier of Quentin Tarantino's, 'Inglourious Basterds'. As most are saying, she looked, "Glorious for Inglorious." The Alexander McQueen jumpsuit paired with a black clutch, shades, lace elbow length fingerless gloves, Maison Martin Margiela booties (her fave) and too many pearl strands to count all of which are probably real and most likely multi-strand as opposed to individual ...she pulls this look off like the fashion icon in the making she is ...And the thing is, it's one thing to have a stellar look but it's another thing entirely to be able to "pull it off". Not everyone can do what Rihanna does. Not everyone can wear Alexander McQueen. Not everyone can take the types of fashion risks she does and exude that level of confidence. It's hard to deny. Both her fashion sense and beauty, makes you drool with envy.

All of the pieces I've seen from Alexander McQueen's Resort 2010 collection, are awesome. I can't wait to see it in it's entirety.

Now onto the good part ...you want this look? Here's how you can get it and for less! Oh yes, it can be done and Bag Ladies will tell you how and how to make it your own. Of course unless you are living under a rock, it's no secret that jumpsuits are all the rage and clearly are here to stay beyond this current season. They are practical. They are functional. I love them! There are so many different style options. You can take a jumpsuit and pair it with Elie Tahari flats and a denim jacket and run around like a chicken with your head cut off during the day and take that same style, upgrade the accessories, slide into some Rupert Sanderson sling-backs and rock it for a night out on the town with the best of them. But our focus is achieving Rihanna's look so let's get on with it.

As for the shades and black clutch, I trust you to be a true fashionista which means you're capable of finding on your own. We found multi strand pearls in varied lengths everywhere from H&M to Nordstrom. It really depends on your preference and how much you wanna pay. If you wanna go for freshwater real pearls, then hit Nordstrom but if you are looking for something to show just as well and for just a few bucks, check out these two multi stand styles which came from Forever21.com and for $7. I rather like the idea of mixing and matching different styles and lengths. As for the lace fingerless gloves, it may require a bit more searching to find elbow length but there are several different brands and options. Admittedly, I've never had a reason to search for lace, fingerless gloves but I found a pair at amazon.com for less than 14 bucks.

Black jumpsuits can be found on the racks of retail outlets everywhere but we definitely preferred styles that afford the same v-neck, the slim fit and the tapered leg of the Alexander McQueen jumpsuit so here are a few different style and price options:

We like this French Connection lucy twill jumpsuit because it's currently on sale for $89.99 but also because of the belted waist and tapered leg.

Now this one may look a bit familiar. And that's because this is an Alexander McQueen as well. This McQ Tuxedo Jumpsuit has a similar leg, v-neck and tapered waist which we love. Not as cost effective but also not as much as the jumpsuit Rihanna is sporting and $561 for Alexander McQueen really ain't bad. If you got it, why not. I damn sure would and maybe will. You better snatch it quick!

Urban Outfitters linen blend Silence & Noise Buttoned-Up Jumpsuit with button tabs at waist and tapered legs for $78.
Below are three bootie options: Steve Madden - $179, Report Dylan - $90, Charlotte Russe Suede Ruched Booties, $24

The lace gloves will look just as good with these sleeveless styles and once accessorized, you can't go wrong. Now, get your hairstylist to do your hair in a pompodour, find your fave rouge lipstick and get dressed!

Solange Takes It All Off!!!

WOW!!!! That's all Bag Ladies can say about this one. What do you think about our girl Solange? I personally can't say too much cause this Lady rocks the short do herself but seems a bit more drastic in this case particularly when she's made claims previously that all the comparisons to big sis might cause her to go off the deep end and chop it off. So might this look suggest that she has in fact gone off the deep end? Hope there isn't any sort of bad vibe between the sisters. Can't wait for further details to be revealed regarding Solange having pulled a Britney Spears on us. If you want further details, this piece posted to dailymail.com, provides the most detailed explanation.

This saga will surely continue ...

Our Providers BAG ...

Bag Ladies are definitely disappointed in our network, blogtalk and the technical difficulties that occurred yesterday and tarnished an otherwise great show. Thank you to all of those who tuned in and stuck it out. We have great shows to follow but it was such a pleasure chatting with Kelley Styring about what the style of a woman's purse and the contents of it says about her and how companies took that which she was able to obtain per her study and implement strategies to better target us as consumers. When you consider all that you carry around in your own handbag, it was hilarious listening to Kelley's stories about that which she came across to include weapons, sex toys and more!! And how she maintained her composure is just unbelievable. How many of you would give anything to be a fly on the wall? Kelley was great and Bag Ladies definitely looks forward to having her on again to discuss the release of her upcoming book, In Your Car which is all about in Kelley's words, the junk in your trunk. I am cracking up even as I type this. But In Your Car takes the same concept/study of In Your Purse but it speaks to that which we haul around in our vehicles and what it all means. So Bag Ladies can't wait for the release of that and what her findings yield. I will say that one thing that this Bag Lady walked away with post-show is a ton of motivation to finally clean out my Marc Jacobs hobo which for those of you that tuned in, no doubt know that a hobo being the bottomless, pocketless pit that it is, implies that I am a woman with no structure and no organization in my life. But Kelley quickly addressed that by saying basically that's a load of crap and in a split second, I was redeemed. But I am going to challenge myself to clean out my purse which I haven't done since before I purchased this bag. I wonder how long it will take to rummage and sift through everything and determine what stays and what goes which I'm sure will be difficult in and of itself b/c as Kelley's book specifies, your purse is at once, a financial center, a medicine cabinet, a pharmacy, a cosmetic counter, a communications hub, a safe deposit box, and a stash for keepsakes!! Perhaps I will post a before pic and our blog followers can in fact follow me through the process.

Not only did Kelley join Bag Ladies but we also had the pleasure of being joined by Tiffany Warner, entertainment and celeb gossip columnist for the LA Examiner as well as reporter and red carpet staple. Oh, and she's also a gossip addict. Tiffany took over Bag Ladies, What's Poppin with Paparazzi segment and provided us all the juice on your fave celebs to include the naked pics of Rihanna circulating all over the place, the fact that a potential Black James Bond is being sought for an upcoming film, Russell Simmons touching Mother's Day message to Kimora, Nick Cannon's response to Eminem about backing up off his wife Mariah and Beyonce turning her apartment into an entire closet!!! Beyonce revealed to Glamour UK that b/c she receives bags upon bags of free clothes on a regular, she requires a BIG closet so she turned her entire apartment into one and Bag Ladies is gonna figure out a way to sneak a peek into that thang. So stay tuned.

And we have more to come to include a review of the Cadillac CTS4, a sip of E&J Gallo, New Amsterdam Straight Gin and more ...But we leave you with Miz Adams, Words of Wisdom and Madame Myra's Top 10 from yesterday's show:

Today’s Words of Wisdom tackle Strong Shoulders

We need those shoulders to lug around that stylish HOBO bag. But what are you really lugging around in that bag?
Are there heavy problems weighing your shoulders down?
I have a girlfriend whose purse was so full of junk that it looked more like a trash bag than a handbag. Most of the stuff she kept inside was old and useless—she had empty mint tins, gum wrappers, used pens, empty lip gloss tubes, just straight up junk. More and more junk accumulated in her purse until it became so heavy that the purse made her shoulders ache.
Sometimes in our lives we hold on to worries and stress. Just like the unnecessary junk in my girlfriends purse, we let troubles and burdens weigh us down until it hurts. Well, Miz Adams is here to tell you – it’s time to clean it alllll out! Clean that junk from your purse, get rid of those fake friends, stop honing over the that sorry dude that dumped you last year. CLEAN THAT PURSE OUT and remember God will never give you more than you can bare.
So How strong are your shoulders? And what’s in that purse that you know you need to throw way!

Madame Myra's Top 10

1. Miniature Swiss Army Knife, This classic pocket knife can perform a wide variety of tasks. With scissors, knife and a file, this is the perfect tool for wrapping a gift in the back of a taxi when you're running late. You won't be able to slice a sandwich in half with it, but you can open boxes, fix a broken nail, or cut a flower out of the garden.

2. Pocket size tape measure, This baby has come in handy at many a garage sale, department store, and gallery. No more passing on that perfect print, vintage wing backed chair or lampshade because you're not sure about the size. A tape measure also saves the day at the Christmas tree lot when that tree that looks five feet turns out to be seven feet tall instead.

3. Mini Mag-Lite flashlight, Lost somewhere, trying to find an address on some God forsaken mail box? Dropped a contact? No problem if you have your little beacon of light handy. One of the survivors of the New York City Twin Towers disaster made it out of the second tower because he had a flashlight in his desk drawer. While the odds are slim you'll ever need to find your way out a burning building with no lights, isn't it nice to know you'll always have light with you?

4. Pocket Corkscrew, You'd be amazed how that little tool can come in handy at parties, on the beach or at a picnic. The screw can be used to tear things open and the notched level will open bottles.

5. Two pens, Always carry two pens- one of them a keeper, the other one, a "give away". Why two, you ask? Well, that's simple. One for you and a spare for that time in the Starbucks when the Adonis you've been watching asks you if you have one he can borrow.

6. A lighter, and a book of matches It doesn't matter if you smoke or not. There's a great selection of lighters out there that will attract attention at a barbecue. Mankind has survived in large part because of fire, and if you ever have to set anything on fire, you'll be ready!

7. A pocket mirror, Your best friend may or may not tell you that you have a piece of spinach stuck on your front tooth, but a pocket mirror will. If you need to touch up your lipstick on the run, that little mirror in your Prada bag could save the day.

8. A note pad, Small spiral notebooks have been around since I was in grammar school (that was a long time ago). Keep one of those little pads handy for taking notes and phone numbers or giving away directions or a shopping list. Believe it or not, the entire world does not carry a Palm Pilot or Blackberry. But everyone needs to carry away information from a conversation now and then. You can write down what they need, tear of the page and slip it into someones pocket in under a minute. Unlike the volume of crap that ends up in your Blackberry, a single piece of paper stands out.

9. A decent size wallet, No matter how sophisticated your phone or laptop may be, there will always be a need for a wallet. This is where your "papers" go, along with and emergency twenty dollar bill, a bandage, and a stick of gum. Sophisticated fold over wallets like those from Luis Vuitton or sturdy little zipper wallets from Coach are the best out there for keeping those little things in there place.

10. Aspirin, Last but not least, is the wonder drug of the twentieth century, Aspirin. When doctors are asked what the one medicine is they would choose to take with them to a deserted island, the mighty Bayer aspirin is their number one choice. Once again, it doesn't matter if you use it or not. Many a headache or toothache can be cured by having a few of those travel packs lying around at the bottom of your purse.

What Bag Ladies brought you on Tuesday ...post-show recap.

Well, we had some technical difficulties but it takes much more than that to throw Bag Ladies off their game! We endured and thank you to those of you who hung on and endured w/ us as well cause if you did, you certainly were privy to a great show! It was difficult at the start to be experiencing the technical difficulties that we were b/c we were so EXCITED about the show. But although we were delayed about 10 minutes, we trust Blog Talk Radio was able to resolve the issues and we won’t have to worry about those difficulties moving forward. I, Lady Erin complimented listeners w/ my voice for a lot longer than I expected as a result. But like I said, we still did our thang!

As usual Madame Myra was hosting along w/ me but we were also joined not only by our featured guest, Nneka Hurley of NnekaSaranHandbags mentioned as per our previous blog post but also a guest host, JaTawny Muckelvene of JaTawny Vision Photography,
http://www.jatawnyvision.com/ who is a locally based awesome Photog, Wife and Mommy of 2 which this Bag Lady can certainly relate to. JaTawny has photographed my fam previously and her work is absolutely amazing. So we had a great time kicking it and hopefully you had equally as good a time tuning in. And of course if you were unable to do so, we are now offering you the BTR playa right from our blog page so it’s up to you. Visit our show page at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/bagladies and scroll down to OnDemand to check out current and past episodes which you missed or hit our blog and not only check out wassup w/ Bag Ladies but the latest episode. Yup, we are making every effort to give it to you as best we can and are always looking to offer more in addition to tweeting it up, facebook’ing and blogging …

Of course we did our What’s Poppin w/ the Paparazzi and some celeb tidbits we will continue to follow is Mariah and Nick may be expecting, Toni Braxton’s efforts to drop a new album and Monica’s supposed reality show. But we also featured my usual fave, Madame Myra’s Top 10 which if for no other reason, check out yesterday’s episode just for her. Additionally, starting today, we are bringing you a new segment called, What’s Sippin! We have mentioned that the concept of Bag Ladies mimics when you link up w/ your girls, kick your shoes off and just gossip and gab about everything under the sun and if you are like us, you don’t typically do so w/out a drink in hand so we thought a great addition to the show would be to profile various wines, liqueurs or other varieties that might be of interest. We were contacted by a few distributors and have been reaching out and started developing relationships. But it’s a segment that we are really excited to bring you and possibly even expand so please be on the lookout for more of that. This week’s show, we featured a black-owned Rum, Castries Crème,
http://www.castriescream.com/, which is defined as a Peanut Rum that blends premium roasted peanuts w/ award winning St. Lucian Rum. Sounded good to us and we would hope that it sounds good to you! Both Madame Myra and myself had a chance to sip it or drink rather cause we definitely did more damage than just a sip and we both found it to be very pleasurable and it’s certainly something I would order when out. As I mentioned during the show, it has the consistency and texture of Bailey’s or Kahlua but smoother. I simply poured it over ice and drank it straight but it can be utilized several different ways to compliment various drinks so please check it out and there are numerous recipes on the site. I can’t wait to ask for it the next time out …perhaps on Saturday. It is very widely distributed …

And lastly, we had a chance to chat it up w/ Nneka Hurley of NnekaSaranHandbags,
http://www.nnekahurley.com/shop/bio.php regarding her upcoming ’09 spring/summer collection which she will be debuting this coming Saturday, April 18th at Lux Lounge in Washington, DC. We discussed how she got her start, celebrities who have carried her designs, her current collection, her faith and how she manages basically doing it on her own while maintaining a full-time job, plans for the future and more. Nneka is great and it was such a pleasure having her join us! This Saturday’s upcoming event which Bag Ladies is very much looking forward to, follows:

Details regarding Nneka’s event:
Debut of NnekaSaranHandbags ’09 spring/summer collection
Lux Lounge, Washington, DC
6-8 pm on 2nd level (please note event will begin promptly at 6 and end at 8)
-Limited designs available for purchase-(cash/credit)

Don’t miss it!

Bag Ladies remains on air every Tuesday. Please take note that next weeks’ show will air Tuesday, April 21st at 7p.

Tuesday recap ...

Bag Ladies wants to get into the habit of posting a recap of the show so not only can you pull up and listen to past episodes from our show page at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/bagladies but you can also check us out here for all the juicy details. We like to think of it as closure which we all desire.

Our last day in March, Tuesday the 31st edition was damn good as we not only premiered our first commercial but we also extended our listeners an awesome special offer!! Read on ...We kicked the show off by talking about weekend activities which included the debut of our Saturday Night Live special edition. Bag Ladies broadcast live from OFF the WALL at Studio 10. We will soon be posting pics from that event. Miz Adams got down at a local bar although she tried to convince us that it was all about biz.

What's Poppin w/ the Paparazzi tidbits:

Kelly Rowland dropped from label; distraught and on suicide watch
Oprah's school in S.Africa rocked by another sexual misconduct scandal
Madonna tryna adopt another lil one of us
Kim Kardashian claims cellulite

Topic of convo, readying the "area down there" and the various methods women use and what lengths we go, to remove hair. We are fastly approaching the summer season so we thought it timely to bring attention to this subject as we women begin prepping to "really" show off.

Madame Myra knocked it out of the park w/ her Top 10 and ran down the lengths women used to go to back in AD and BC times to remove hair which included burning it off, using arsenic and more!! But also, there was a period when more hair was sexy and pubic toupees were worn!! If for no other reason, check out the show so you can hear Madame Myra do her thang.

Bag Ladies discussed methods of hair removal from the most effective to the least effective w/ our featured guest, Mrs. Danielle Gibbs, educator at Aveda Institute of DC and owner of Elevar Mobile Spa. She left us w/ her Top Do's and Don'ts to make waxing relaxing be it a bikini or brazilian:

  • Do let your hair grow to about ¼ an inch before any wax service. This will allow the wax to adhere to the hair successfully for successful hair removal.
  • Do screen your wax professional. Ask questions about their experience, inspect the cleanliness of the spa and spa room. Look for a trained esthetician.
  • Don’t patronize anyone that double dips (uses the same wax stick during the entire service). This is not sanitary, and can cause bacteria in the wax resulting in cross contamination… NASTY!!!
  • Don’t steam, sauna, or take hot showers after waxing.
  • Do anticipate some soreness if it’s your first wax. However with continued treatments, it will become less distressing.
Danielle is a licensed esthetician and her company, Elevar not only offers a variety of mobile services but spa parties as well. And for the month of April, you will receive a 20% discount on selected services!! All you need do is mention Bag Ladies when scheduling.
To schedule a private appointment and to have services rendered in a private, comfortable atmosphere, contact: 240.417.0802 or justfaceitdani@gmail.com.

Let us know wassup but more importantly, tune in cause when you miss us, you miss out ...
